Many people don't realize how nice it is for recreational boating at Houston County Lake. The lake is seldom crowded (unless you think 5 boats is busy) and certainly isn't a Lake Conroe, Travis or Lewisville. There are many coves you can pull into and swim as well as open areas for skiing and wakeboarding.
The old adage "If you don't know, go slow" certainly has value on Houston County Lake, there are still many areas a recreational boater needs to avoid and use caution in. The area at the dam is the most open area of the lake and has a boat ramp that is modern and easy to launch from. When you're at the lake and other boaters and are here you can see the pattern the boats run on the lake and feel confident piloting your boat.
Houston County Lake is spring fed and the main part of the lake is always cool and refreshing. It's a great lake to snuggle up in a little cove, anchor, have lunch and swim off the boat. The quiet lake is always a great place bring a boat and enjoy your family and friend time!
There is no gas on the lake so fill your tank and tote cans if you need additional fuel.
We do offer maps for sale, mainly for our vacation rental customers, are happy to sell them to lake visitors as well. This is best done in advance through staff@vacationcountryrentals.com please keep in mind, this is a courtesy. The maps are hard to get and we do not make money on sales. The cost of a map is $12.50 and we ask for cash payment when you pick it up at your scheduled time.
